The Principal Financial Group Responds to Midwest National Disasters
The Principal Financial Group has extended grace periods on insurance premium payments due from policyholders in the proclaimed disaster areas in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa. We will work closely with customers directly impacted by the natural disasters who need additional assistance during this time. By calling 800-986-3343, individuals are connected to specialists who can answer questions and help alleviate concerns.
For Health Insurance Coverage:
- We will work with those in the impacted areas to extend grace periods for 60 days. This includes suspension of any penalty attached to late payment of premiums and suspension on cancellation of any insurance policy.
- Preauthorization or pre-certification of insured medical services for those in impacted areas will be temporarily waived to allow access to medically necessary healthcare.
- Affected members in the disaster areas can receive early refills on prescription medications.
For Other Insurance Coverage:
- We will work with those in impacted areas to extend grace periods for 60 days. This includes waiver of any late fee or interest normally charged for payments received after the due date and the suspension of cancellation of any insurance policy.
For Retirement and Investor Services:
- Requests for the receipt of payments from pension, 401(k) plan or investment products may be directed to the telephone number listed above.
For Principal Bank Customers:
Customers of Principal Bank may contact 800-672-3343 24 hours a day, seven days a week for information concerning:
- Payments on loans
- Receiving distributions from IRAs and Certificates of Deposit
- Receiving funds from checking and savings accounts
- Electronic bill payment services
- Address change
